“Bethesda Loops”: An Interactive Sound Walk By Kamala Sankaram

“Bethesda Loops” is a brand new interactive sound walk created by composer/performer Kamala Sankaram sound walk is made possible by U-GRUVE AR, an Audio Augmented Reality app that is freely available on the iTunes App Store. The sound walk, which is situated at Central Park’s Bethesda Fountain and Terrace, will be activated at the opening of Creative Tech Week on May 2nd, and will run through the festival’s closing on May 13th, during which time participants may experience the piece independently during normal park hours.

There will be a special launch event on Saturday, May 12th, from 1:00PM to 3:00PM. The event will open with a brief talk by Ms. Sankaram, who will provide a background on her motivation and process for creating this piece. Richard Rodkin, creator of U-GRUVE AR and founder of Memetic Arts, Inc., will also be on hand to explain the technology behind the app. Participants will then embark on a guided group sound walk, followed by a reception featuring light snacks and beverages.

The launch event is FREE, but RSVP is required through EventBrite. Please reserve a ticket prior to attending.
