New York University Tandon School of Engineering Integrated Digital Media
Brooklyn Experimental Media Center at MAGNET presents:
✴✴✴✴ IDM SHOWCASE 2019! ✴✴✴✴
Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Installations, Interactive Audio. Simply Buzzwords. What excites us all are the implementations of these ideas. The possibility of experiencing something meaningful beyond the hype of buzz. The Integrated Digital Media major at NYU attempts to bring these ideas into meaningful experiences and interactions. With highly experimental work, these experimentations lead to high levels of innovation and interesting possibilities in mediums we already know such as graphics, film, user experience as well as possibilities in emerging mediums of VR, AR, and Creative Coding.
SeeUX, by Ankita Deshpande, focuses on how we can we include less abled users in the prototyping and user design process. By producing a blind friendly physical prototyping tool, Ankita is empowering those less abled to influence the initial product and ideation process.
Debbi Litt created a workshop and digital platform called Mourning Routine, to embolden people to start thinking about the end of life. By encouraging conversations about death with family and friends, Debbi wants to resurrect the intimacy and personalization of dying, deathcare, and bereavement.
Silver Ratio by Robert Ruth is a musical performance that allows audience members to participate in tactile creation of audio and visual effects. Through touch sensitive patch points and intuitive control boards, audiences can modify and modulate changes in the instrumentation as well as the visuals accompanying it.
With a showing of 60-70 other projects, any tech enthusiast, researcher, and curious techies will gain a lot from this event, so stop on by to the rising tech triangle of Brooklyn!
